Before joining the Vinifera program, Jean-Paul Trijsburg studied Agronomy in the Netherlands. However, it was while working in Burgundy and Bordeaux that he fell in love with winemaking. Graduating from Vinifera in 2009 after completing his M2 studies in Hochschule Geisenheim University, Germany, Jean-Paul’s master thesis focused on “Drought and hydraulic architecture of grapevines.”
Currently, Jean-Paul is the Owner and Winemaker at The Happy Winemaker. Located in central Victoria, Australia, he produces a wide range of wines, including Vermouth and port wines. Jean-Paul attributes much of his success to the Vinifera program, stating, “I started a small but successful wine brand in Australia. I couldn’t have done this without the experience and knowledge gained from the Vinifera program.”
