Immersion week for Batch 2023-2025

Exploring Wine with Vinifera EuroMaster’s Class of 2023

Vinifera EuroMaster’s Class of 2023 had a friendly start with mentors Laurent Torregrosa, Anne Pellegrino, Vittorino Novello and Patrice Lallemand.

Patrice Lallemand, the academic director, and Mark Strobl taught students how to taste wine professionally. They also learned about the effects of alcohol and why it’s essential to drink in moderation. This helped them get a better picture of the wine industry.

The week’s highlight was a three-day trip to Pech Rouge INRAE’s vineyards. Professors from partner universities showed students how grapes are harvested and turned into wine. The students also attended a talk about viticulture research, where they heard about the latest discoveries from Prof. Laurent Torregrosa and Dr Nicolas Saurin.

To facilitate bonding amongst the students, they visited Salins de Gruissan to learn about salt production and enjoy local food and wine. They also relaxed between sessions by the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.

They also explored well-known wineries, tasting over 30 wines and learning how to pair them with cheese and meat. Some of the wineries they visited included Chateau Rouquette Sur Mer, Chateau Camplazens, Domaine Sarrat de Goundy, and Beauvignac.

In addition to their classes, students did teamwork activities and learned about understanding different cultures. This helped students from 20 different countries get to know each other better.

The first week was more than just lessons; it was an adventure into the world of wine. As these students continue their journey, we look forward to more experiences and knowledge. 🍷📚
