Dr Matthias Schmitt is lecturer and researcher in enology at Hochschule Geisenheim University, Germany.
Matthias completed his BSc. in Geisenheim. He joined the Vinifera Master as a student in the second year of its existence. After graduating from the Vinifera programme, he studied for his PhD in Enology at Hochschule Geisenheim. Since 2013 he lectures in different bachelor and master programmes in the field of enology.
Vinifera Teaching: He teaches engineering of prefermentative processes and Sparkling Wine production, in the module of wine processing.
Research Interests: Matthias’ interest and expertise is in sparkling wine production, membrane processes, alcohol reduction and enological adaptations to the challenges of climate change.
