Prof S Ferreira-Dias

Professor Suzana Ferreira-Dias is Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA, School of Agriculture) of the Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa, University of Lisbon).

Suzana Ferreira-Dias graduated in Agro-Industrial Engineering at ISA in 1984, obtained her MSc. in Biotechnology (Biochemical Engineering) at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in 1989, and completed her PhD. in Agro-Industrial Engineering (ISA) in 1994, achieving the Habilitation (ISA) in 2004.

Suzana has been responsible for courses on Food Engineering BSc and MSc, namely “Sensory Analysis”, “Unit Operations I”, “Unit Operations II” and “Technology of Oils and Fats”, as well as for teaching specific modules of courses of graduation and MSc at ISA (Food Biotechnology, Food Technology).

She is member of the coordination committee of the PhD program in Food Science and Engineering at ISA/ULisboa.  In addition, she is Senior Member of the Portuguese Professional Association of Engineers.

Vinifera Teaching: In the M1 of the Vinifera programme in Montpellier, Suzana teaches “Experimental design and Data Analysis“unit of the Project Management in Science module.

Research Interests: The research interests of Suzana Ferreira-Dias have been centred on the fields of Food Engineering, Biotechnology, on the Science and Technology of Oils and Fats, and Sensory Analysis of foods for quality control or product development.

International Development: Suzana is the representant of Portugal as elected member of PRIMA’s Scientific Advisory Committee (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) (2018-2020).

She has participated (as coordinator or team member) in several international research projects, networks, and bilateral collaborations. Also, she has served as expert on the evaluation of international projects and grant proposals, as well as reviewer for several international scientific journals.

She serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Oil Chemists’ Society.
