General presentation

Northwest A&F University (NWAFU), founded in 1934, is a key national comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. As one of China’s leading universities, NWAFU was supported by the Ministry of Education’s “Project 985”, “Project 211”, and “Double First-Class Universities.” The University is located in Yangling, Shaanxi Province, the birthplace of Chinese Agricultural civilization and today’s the National Agriculture High-tech Industrial Demonstration zone.

The NWAFU College of Enology, established on April 20, 1994, was created under Professor Hua Li’s initiative and the whole industrial chain idea of “From Land To Table,” who is the first Chinese to obtain a doctorate degree in Viticulture and Enology in France. The College is the first and foremost institution specializing in Asia in grape and wine education, scientific research, and technical services. The College has programs awarding Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral degrees and has post-doctoral research facilities.

The College has established extensive cooperation for postgraduate students’ joint training with countries like France, Spain, Italy, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Germany, Canada, and other countries.
