Dr N Tomasi

Dr Nicola Tomasi is Associate Professor of Agricultural Chemistry at the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (DISA), University of Udine, Italy .

Nicola studied for his Master of Science in Biology, at the University of Neuchatel (Switzerland).  He obtained his PhD thesis in Natural Sciences from the University of Zurich (Switzerland).  Following this is completed Post-doctoral Fellowships at the DISA.

Between 2008-2016: he held the post of Researcher at the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (DISA), University of Udine.

Vinifera Teaching: Nicola teaches on carbon and mineral nutrition to M1 students in the Vine Ecology & Physiology module.

Research Interests:

  • Acquisition mechanisms of macronutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur) and micronutrients (iron, copper) in model and cultivated plants.
  • Molecular biology and regulation of nutrient transport, distribution and storage.
  • Mechanisms involved in the release of radical exudates and mobilization of nutrients (phosphorus, iron) in the rhizosphere.
  • Regulation of membrane activity by components of the humic substance isolated from different matrices (soil, water, peat) and biostimulant compounds.
  • Functioning and regulation of the mechanisms involved in adaptive responses to abiotic stresses in model and cultivated plants.
  • Optimization of soilless (hydroponic) systems of model and cultivated plants.
