Dr Marisa Manzano is Associate Professor at the University of Udine, Department of Agricultural Food Environmental and Animal Sciences.
Vinifera Teaching: Marisa teaches M2 students on the Integrated course ‘Advanced Biomolecular and Chemical Techniques applied to enological products’. She also lectures in the module of ‘Application of rapid molecular methods and biosensors for the identification of micro-organisms in viticulture and enology’.
She is member of various commissions (including didactic, State Exam Commission, and Collegiate of Doctorate Research) and has acted as Coordinator for Erasmus exchanges and mobility since 2004.
Marisa has supervised 90 undergraduate/graduate theses and 4 PhD students. She is author of a patent in 1996 (C12Q) and co-author of two patents under submission. She has spoken in various international conferences, and is member of the editorial boards of 9 International Journals (including Int. J. Wine Research). In addition, she works as reviewer for more than 20 International Journals
Research Interests:
Marisa Manzano is author of 147 papers and eleven book chapters. Her research centres on:
- Construction and optimization of optical and electrochemical biosensors for microbial detection
- Development of DNA probes for the specific detection of microorganisms using biosensors
- Optimization of molecular methods (PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, DNA array, DGGE, TTGE, PFGE, RFLP, SSCP)
- Food and Wine Microbiology including microbial dynamics during fermentation
