Dr Jorge Cadima is Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at Lisbon University’s Instituto Superior de Agronomia.
He completed a Licenciatura (5-year first degree) in Applied Mathematics – specialization in Statistics and Computing – at Lisbon University’s School of Sciences (Faculdade de Ciências), in 1978. He completed a PhD in Multivariate Statistics at the University of Kent at Canterbury, in the UK, in 1992. He is a member of Lisbon University’s research Center for Statistics and Applications (CEAUL).
Vinifera Teaching: Jorge teaches M1 students in Stastics on the Project Management in Science module.
Research Interests: Jorge Cadima has a long experience of teaching Mathematics and Statistics for degrees at every level (from first degrees to PhD courses), among which courses in introductory statistics and computing, mathematical analysis, statistical modelling (linear models and generalized linear models), multivariate statistics (PCA, discriminant analysis, cluster analysis, scaling methods). His research and publications are also in several of these areas. The R statistical software is used in all statistics courses, and he is a co-author and maintainer of an R package (subselect).
